Dunlop Crybaby Wah

It was shorlty after  Christmas of 1980 when I got my first guitarand I was happily thrashing away at my guitar as hard as i could. I decided I wanted to learn the classic riff from Jimi Hendrix’ “Voodoo Chile”

At that time the only pedal that I could find locally ( I lived in the middle of howhere), was the Dunlop Cry Baby Wah pedal.  I found it to be a solid workhorse, and had great sweep range with my Les Paul.

I did find it quite hard to get used to the additional pressure needed to switch the effect on and off, but with a little practice it became seamless.

After I nailed the Voodoo Chile riff, I turned my attention to some classic 70’s funk ( obviously I couldn’t tell any of my Hard Rock buddies at the time…), and experimented with leaving the pedal in certain positions to come up with some excellent ‘nasally’ sounds that were slighly off the normal sounds for a guitar.

I always found the pedal to be solid and reliable, if a bit harsh on ears if it was left at it’s most open setting ( having 100 watt marshall at full tilt behind my head didn’t help either).

I know ther have been some complaints about the pedal being scratchy at certain settings, but as with all effects pedals when they are set at their extremes they can get a little funky with their output.

Overall, a solid dependable fun pedal – I love it.
